How to play Master Checkers
Master Checkers is based on Italian checkers, which differs from the American version in a few important ways. In the Italian rules a man cannot capture a king, captures are mandatory, and when you have a choice you must take the route that captures the most pieces.
Those rules make the game more tactical. You often win by offering a piece on purpose to force the opponent into a capture that sets up a bigger one for you.
Tips for Master Checkers
- Remember that men cannot capture kings. A single king can safely sit among your opponent's men in a way that would not work under American rules.
- Look for forced capture setups. Because captures are mandatory, you can steer the opponent's pieces by sacrificing one of yours.
- Always check whether your move leaves a larger capture open for the opponent.
- Keep your formation connected. Lone pieces are easy to trap.
